Hi all,
I got one of those forwards last night from someone who doesn't understand those 4 simple little words, I, don't, want, forwards. I didn't try and post the message here, because I didn't want to bother anyone with a forward, but i was wondering if it's true. The forward states, that the person received a call from someone claiming to be with the phone company, and asked the person to press 9 0 0, so he could test the phone line. the person said he/she was suspicious, so the person called the phone company, and was told that by pressing 9 00 for someone, that person could get access to your phone line, and make long distance calls using your line, so you would get the bills for long distance calls you didn't make. I don't feel really the responsibility for forwarding it on, especially since I'm not interested in them myself, and some people start rumors of things that turn out not to be true at all, but it seems a lot of people just forward things without even thinking about it, or finding out if it's true, just becaus the message tells them to. So does anyone know if it's true, or is this just another one of those hoax stories? Thanks,
wonderwoman

nice to have a website for a friend, I doon't think I've ever had one of those before, but how do you look up something on it? maybe it's something like urban legends, but I never could figure out what search terms to use to find out if something was true.

I don't know if that's true but I got one that is. lol it's saying that in a few weeks cellphone numbers are being given out to telemarketers and if you answer the call you'll be charged for it. so it gave me this number so I could block my phone number and it worked so yeah. lol...off topic but oh well.

I remember once when I was on an email list called blindy, someone was inviting people to join an email list just to send forwards. one person said it sounded like a spam marithhon, which I agree, but do you know, if there was at least one list where people just just send forwards, it would stop them from sending them to people individually. I want to get to the point where the only email I get is to me and only me, conversational email. Emnail has lost it's appeal for me, except for conversational email, I like that, I just would like not to get forwards anymore.
